Million Dollar Cowboy Bar....

In an effort to play some more blog catch up here's a post from our annual Easter Long Weekend pow hunting trip.

This year Brett joined Danielle and I to head into the far reaches on the coast mountains where the trees are few and the glaciers plenty. Our destination this time was the fabled Million Dollar Cowboy Bar North of Vancouver and South of Whitehorse. We were determined to find it!

After a 5 hour drive we loaded up the machines and headed West....

And passed by a familiar summer trailhead....

After a couple of hours we set off on foot and headed up into our drainage. On route we passed by a curious and beautiful owl as the light of the day faded....

And then we arrived at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.

The next morning we set off early on a beautiful day....

We found great views of the vast beauty of the Coast Range....

One of my favourite views of Athelney....

And the Bridge Glacier....

Brett got the trips first juicy line!

Some nice pow for everyone!

Then off to a bigger one in the area....

That involved some tricky ridge rambling....

When we summited we were in a full white out and Danielle encountered a close call. She was first to drop in and on her second turn a 30cm slab pulled out and she barely held her ground. It would been an ugly ride but her strength and skill kept her planted and safe.

Our days first turns....

Back to the bar for some refreshments and a nice evening....

The next day was storming but we headed down to the machines and further out west....

We found a summit....

And some fresh pow....

The CMH Heli skiers were doing a nice job topping some beautiful trees in many spots where they had plenty of space to land their big machines. I can only imagine how nasty this will look when the summer hiker passes by this remote untouched route.

With the weather worsening we headed further west to check out some new spots....

Not sure what this was all about....

Back to the bar on Easter Eve....

Dinner and refreshments were looking outstanding!

The next day we pushed into a different drainage and has some fun in the sun....

Then the clouds crept back in and decided to take away our vis again....

We found another summit!

And the Easter bunny was there!

Back to bar for our final night and the Easter bunny was kind to me!

On the way out all signs were pointing to a short spring ski season. Nevertheless this was another great one for the memory banks!
