Pinecone Lake....

With the summer winding down Danielle and I decided to check out another gem in our back-yard. Pinecone Burke Provincial park is a pretty special place with a very remote feel even with it's proximity to Squamish. We met Ross, Zoe Alice and Otis Saturday morning and headed up the Mamquam main and the other maze of roads that lead to this alpine paradise.

Plenty of coastal old growth on route....

The weather was questionable on day 1.

High above November lake....

This glacier was surprisingly low at 1400m!

There was way more ice in the area than I expected.

The magical Pinecone Lake showed itself after four hours.

It was a tiring hike so Otis took a nap....

A few of us braved the icy waters....

Otis sported a $400 down jacket.

We took a more challenging route back to the trucks....

Meslillooet Mountain....

A different view of the Sky Pilot....

Judge Howay....

Elfin Lakes and Garibaldi....

Pilsner at Ross's place.... Cheers to Squamish.

Staying on the Map in Hood River....

I'm pumped to be working with the fine folks at Adventure Maps. For their latest Hood River edition I managed to get a shot of Danielle on the cover. If you haven't picked up one of these maps you should. The attention to detail along with the Waterproof and Tear resistant paper they use makes them must haves on your next adventure. Check em all out here: http://adventuremaps.net/

J.R.A. on J.T.R.

Part 1. With the moderate rainfall that came down last week the loamy trails above Pemberton were calling my name. Saturday, Tobin joined Danielle and myself for the always leg exploding climb from the valley bottom to the top of Jack the Ripper.

The "Middle Earth" climb was scenic as ever....

Mmmm Prototype 2014 Norco Carbon Sight 27.5.

A beautiful memorial for a local legend....

The skies were angry above Pemberton valley....

After a few hours of climbing we dropped in.

The rock was borderline greasy no go but we made it work....

This is a cool place....

Loam hunting....

Part 2. My friend Eric from Bike n Hike Corvallis Oregon was on an adventure filled tour of the Pacific Northwest last week and decided to come sample what we had to offer.

J.T.R. was so good a only 2 days earlier we decided to hit it up one more time! Mike and I played tour guide for the day.

This time we climbed via the "Super Duty" trail. It seemed easier than "Middle Earth".

Solid views of Lillooet lake on the way up....

Classic view of Mt Currie showcasing the "Y" and "Pencil" Couloirs.

Such a sweet line in Pemberton's magical forest....

And some playful spots....

Mike makes this one look easy in a "no fall" zone.

Another epic Pemberton afternoon.

And we made a new friend in the town of Mt Currie while Eric went to grab the Super Duty.
