The Labour Day week-end usually marks the last big riding trip of the year where the weather and temps cooperate. This year was no exception with cool evenings and warm summer days. Danielle and I headed up Friday night to ensure a solid start to our Saturday plans.
Our day started with a long pedal from Tyaughton Lake to Taylor and up Camel Pass. With the long week-end in effect we certainly saw some big groups of riders out.
Our friends from the Whistler Bike Co. were navigating the "Ridge-a-Rama".
Great views of Truax Mountain across the valley....
It's tough to imagine a more scenic time of year to be in the mountains!
This trail has a real sense of being on top of the world....
Some nice looking Christmas tree farms in Cinnabar creek....
Views of Carpenter Lake....
And the east end of Tyaughton Lake just before dropping into the gold!
When we arrived home from our ride Drey and Martin were sipping on some cold ones and stoked to get out with us the next day. I'd been planning a different loop for at least 5 years now and the group seemed to think it was a good idea.
The day started with a 12km old road pedal into the deep. Great views of Teepee Mountain.
There were some large overgrown "Salad" sections but we were on a trail....
Fall colours were starting in the meadows below Relay Mountain....
And the Castle showed itself....
The fireweed colours were spectacular!
Happy girls....
This fossil I stepped on while pushing my bike is among the best I'd ever found. It deserves two photos! Amazing detail....
Castle Pass and Fortress Mountain....
This descent is truly spectacular and gives you a unique view of the north face of Eldorado Mountain....
The basalt columns on Fortress Ridge are among the best I've ever seen....
Mmmm... Dickson.
And after nine and a half hours we found the truck. Such a sweet week-end!
