G3 Show Skin contest....

Spring skiing is all about having "more" fun in the back-country. It's the time of year when the snowpack typically is more stable and the longer days make for a more relaxed pace. The weather in April however can be hit or miss and this year it leaned towards the "miss" side more than we liked. That made it challenging to help the girls idea of taking the annual "G3 show skin contest" to the next level and win some gear. The point of this idea was to actually get out in the mountains and put their new outfits to use. It all started last April when I snapped this photo of the girls on the Garibaldi Neve traverse.

As a result of this years contest much knowledge was gained and many questions were answered. For example "how many old G3 climbing skins does it take to make a women's bikini". We'd also find out how effective G3's skin glue is on women's skin and in the process discovered another use of G3's handy Ski and Utility straps. Best of all we became women's bikini designers and engineers with a new knowledge of how to construct bra cones and bikini bottoms from the very tool we depend on to climb mountains each week-end. Mission accomplished!

These are such works of art that an independent series of photos needed to be captured....

Construction began mid March at our Chilcotin cabin over many beers and more laughs. On the Saturday before their alpine debut the girls came by for a "fitting".

The main challenge was having the bottoms stay on while skiing. The initial idea of using the skin glue as a closure just didn't pan out and blew open with vigorous activity. The same happened when we stapled them together and not to mention the comfort level of that option. The lightbulb went on and we settled on small bolts with wing nuts on one side. They literally were bolted on taking the word "chastety belt" to another level.

Sunday morning the weather looked like it would corporate just enough to allow for the big day. Below is the series of photos that followed. Sometimes less is more but in this case more is the way to go. Enjoy....

And the winning photo is....

Thanks again G3 for creating such a cool spring contest.... Stay tuned for more skin bikini photoshoots!
