Sea to Pow Country....

This February's temps have been up and down with massive alpine warming followed by big dumps and big days. There will be no complaining from me based on the last couple of seasons where we didn't receive a single centimetre of snow in February. I promised myself I wouldn't let any good pow go to waist this season so we have been "on call". One Squamish back-yard zone we have frequented in past wasn't even ridable last year as a result of high freezing levels. It's on the lowish elevation side but when it's good to go there is no where else I'd rather be with my board!

We determined there was a 360cm base here in our snow profile. These pics speak for themselves!

The forest this week-end was literally caked with cold blower!

The old growth here is absolutely stunning!

Mmmm.... Pillows.

I can't wait to see what March has in store for us. It's only February and I'm feeling pretty satisfied from what this season's given us.

Back in our Back-Yard....

After a month in the European Alps we were anxious to get after it back in Canada. Shortly after our epic new years trip we were Europe bound. While we were away there was a significant warming and rain event on the coast but as we touched down on home soil, conditions were setting up just in time for a deep week-end. When we woke Saturday morning, 60cms of fresh had fallen on the rain crust so stability would obviously be touchy. Only 30 minutes from home we know a steep tree zone perfect for days like this.

On the day's first up-track the sky began to clear....

I got to test ride my brand new 2016 G3 Black Sheep splitty and the best goggle baggy ever from the Stiegl brewery in Salzburg Austria!

The first turns were milky....

The refinements G3 has made on the Black Sheep were perfect. She has a well balanced camber and likes to charge!

We spent the day working a nice piece of West Coast forest. What more could we ask for on our first days back in Canada!

The next day Calum joined us for an exploration tour up on Habrich Ridge above Howe Sound. When the snow improves again this should be an epic zone!

Eurotrip 2016....

Danielle and I spent a month this January searching for pow and beer in Europe. The trip was a sucsess with ski highlights in Zermatt and Verbier Switzerland, Chamonix in France and St Anton am Arlberg in Austria. Beer highlights were obviously in the Czech Republic and Austria where we toured the world famous Pilsner Urquel brewery and the Stiegl brewery in Austria.

Blogpost in progress.... stand by....
