Noel the Wolverine....

The recent inversion event has left a widespread think crust in almost all alpine areas and even reached the highest peaks. Finding decent shred-able snow has become nearly impossible in southwest BC for the time being at least. In times like this it's best to pack up the sled with plenty of beer and head over the Hurley to the mountain town of Bralorne.

Saturday morning we survived the whoops and made our way into the upper reaches of the Noel Creek drainage.

We decided to go for a walk in search of "some" pow....

Instead we found some spectacular views of the Cadwalader range and beyond.

And braved the 30mm think ice crust the slopes had to offer.

And then in the distance we spotted another mountain traveller.

He reached a spot where we had temporarily got off the sleds to assess our route. In the same spot where we stood on foot he rolled around on his back marking the territory.

Then he decided to head directly towards the pass we were hanging out on.

When he reached the top he went into downhill overdrive and started sliding down the east slope until he was super far away in a very short period of time.

We were all pretty taken back by the extremely rare Wolverine sighting we just experienced.

With a little more time on our hands we decided to practice cutting cornices off with my G3 Rutschblock Cord.

Back in Bralorne we hit up Sally's Pub for an evening of food, beverages, billiards and 2X4 Jenga.

Pray for more snow!
